Can you delete the grains and some water
We have not tried that ourselves, but you could give it a try.
We just started making meals at home for our German Shepherd and look forward to trying this recipe! How many cups does this recipe yield approximately? Do you have any recommendations for figuring out serving size? He weighs 90 lbs. Thanks!
It yields 8-10 cups. We would ask your vet on serving size. It will vary per dog.
Great recipe! I have a 13 year old poodle who’s a picky eater. I have started cooking for and a crockpot is a great idea! Do you add any vitamins or supplements? If yes which ones?
Could. You add can pumkin to this
Yes, it would be fine. I would double check with your vet first.
I have two dogs. A senior Boxer and a three year old Schitzu.

I have a 15 year old labradoodle who was becoming a picky eater. After trying combinations of wet and dry dog foods I gave up and started researching homemade dog meals. I made this for my dog and he loved it. He gets excited again for his dinner time. I did add Zesty Paws to his diet for additional vitamins and minerals.
Thanks for sharing this! We love to hear that the pups are enjoying this recipe!
It makes a lot of food. How best to package and store? I give her 1 cup twice a day. I have freezer bags. What do you recommend?
We usually prefer air tight containers to freeze. You can absolutely use freezer bags if that is what you have on hand.
I have a 8yr old Chihuahua that was losing weight consistently since January, to the point he has seen two vets trying to make him well. I was at wits end changing to high end dog food thinking that would help. I finally decided to use your recipe with modifications as I already bought frozen peas and spiraled zucchini and fresh spinach. With one hour left in the slo-cooker I gave Eddie a bit of everything after he refused to eat his canned food again, guess what he went crazy over it, wanted more and then my other chihuahua wanted some. I’m sold, this being my very first attempt I’m very happy. So now I’m making all their foods at home. Thanks for posting this recipe, it’s a hit at our house! And, the other 3 dogs are foodies so I imagine they’ll be over the moon!
This is such a great story. Thank you for sharing it with us. We believe that even animals love the great flavors of fresh produce!
Looks good I’m gonna give it a try for my new puppy. One quick question….you have down 3 pounds of ground turkey added to the slow cooker but should that be cooked or uncooked?
You can do either. The slower cooker will cook it, but some people like to cook it ahead of time! It is honestly up to your preference.
Can I use can green beans? I don’t know if she’ll eat kidney beans. She’s such a picky eater even w human food. I’m so afraid she won’t eat any of it after the beans
Absolutely as long as your vet has approved that for your dog’s diet!
My dog is super picky & won’t eat much of this by itself. When cooked together, he eats every morsel!
Air tight containers like those Rubbermaid or Tupperware?
Correct!
