Itโ€™s Like a Fruit Platter, but Better!

  • Only requires four ingredients
  • Is ready in 15 minutes

Not to mention, itโ€™s kid-friendly, affordable, and creative!

You can even make this a few hours ahead of time to tide your guests over while you finish up the rest of your Christmas dinner recipes.

Letโ€™s make sure you have the ingredients.

Ingredients for Your Christmas Fruit Platter

Kiwi, pomegranate arils, oranges, dill

Three fruits and one herb are all you need to turn your Christmas fruit platter into a fancy and festive holiday wreath. You know we love good quality produce to make sure that your holiday recipes not only look decadent but also bring joy to your taste buds.

Hereโ€™s what youโ€™ll need.

Kiwis

Sweet, refreshing, and slightly acidic, kiwis are the star of your holiday wreath. Their vibrant color and unique flavor make this recipe visually appealing and extra yummy. You only need four kiwis to create the circular base of your wreath, and they are easy to peel and slice. In fact, kiwis are a great fruit to start with when letting your age-appropriate kids practice their knife skills. Theyโ€™re soft enough, so you donโ€™t need a sharp blade.

We used Buddy’s kiwifruit for this recipe because they are always fresh, with just the right firmness, and full of tingly flavor.

Pomegranate Arils

Before you say you donโ€™t want to mess with getting pomegranate arils out of the center of the fruit, hear me out. What if you didnโ€™t have to

Thatโ€™s right! Juicy Gemsยฎ make adding arils to your holiday recipes easy with their ready-to-eat, fresh pomegranate arils. Grab the 4.4-ounce container for your Christmas fruit platter and sprinkle them around your holiday wreath.ย

No cutting, no banging, no mess.

Itโ€™s that simple.

Look for your fresh arils in the produce aisle to add holiday charm to your wreath platter and to enhance other festive recipes.

Oranges

Navel oranges donโ€™t have seeds and are naturally sweet and juicy in comparison to other oranges. Itโ€™s almost always a good idea to add citrus to a recipe with pomegranate and kiwis to bring out their natural flavors. It adds a bright sweetness as the perfect end to each bite of your Christmas fruit platter.

Weโ€™re using the orange peel to add a decorative bow to the top our wreath to tie it all together at the end. Feel free to use leftover segments of your oranges as decor for the rest of your wreath to add some extra color, or squeeze some of the juice to enhance and blend the flavors together.ย

Be sure to get the oranges with the navel on the top for extra sweetness.

Dill

Fresh herbs are always a positive addition to any recipe, including sweet fruits. Dill delicately adds the wreath-like texture you imagine when you think of a traditional holiday wreath on your door. Its fresh, citrus flavor pairs well with the kiwi, pomegranate arils, and oranges on your Christmas fruit platter.

One bunch of fresh dill is enough to create the circle of your wreath and itโ€™s easy on the pocket during the holiday season. Look for dainty, grass-like dill in the produce aisle by the herbs. Itโ€™s key in bringing the whole wreath to life.

How To Make A Christmas Wreath With Fruit

Arrange the dill in a large circle on your serving platter.

Step 1: Arrange your dill sprigs into a large circle on a square or circular serving platter. Make it as full or as thin of a circle as youโ€™d like.

Slice the kiwis and place them in a circle on top of the dill.

Step 2: Use a knife to cut off both ends of the kiwi. Then, insert a spoon between the flesh and the skin and move it around in a circle until the flesh separates from the skin. Use a knife to slice the kiwi into rounds.

Place the kiwi rounds on top of the dill, with the ends slightly overlapping until a circle is formed.

Sprinkle the pomegranate arils.

Step 3: Open the container of pomegranate arils and sprinkle them evenly around the wreath.

Step 4: Use your knife to cut โ€œcornersโ€ on the top of your orange to make the shape of a bow and place it at the top or bottom of the wreath.

Optional: Place the leftover orange segments around the Christmas fruit platter as decor.

Lay leftover orange segments on the outside of the wreath.

Step 5: Serve to your holiday guests.

How to Select Kiwis

The best way to select your kiwis is by feel. Gently press the skin of the kiwi with your thumb. If itโ€™s hard, the kiwi isn’t ripe yet. If the flesh has a slight give from the pressure, your kiwi is perfect to use in your holiday wreath fruit platter. Be sure that the skin doesnโ€™t have any blemishes or bruises as well. Remember to get four for this holiday recipe.

How to Store Your Christmas Fruit Platter

You can store your holiday wreath in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days or freeze it for up to six months. Plate it as a smaller wreath when youโ€™re ready to eat or add it to smoothies, yogurt, and ice cream for a fresh snack.
