Be sure to check out some of our favorite blueberry recipes at the end of the blog. But first, let’s make sure you have what you need to make your air fryer bagels.

Fresh Air Fryer Bagel Ingredients

One of our favorite things about this blueberry air fryer bagel recipe is that you only need three ingredients. It couldn’t be any easier!

North Bay Produce Blueberries

Fresh blueberries are the key ingredient to freshness in these air fryer bagels. We used blueberries from North Bay because they are committed to producing fresh berries all year. That burst of sweet purple swirled into the dough makes these breakfast bagels feel store-bought… but more fresh and tasty. Look for silvery blue berries for optimal freshness.

Self-Rising Flour

To get your blueberry bagels mixed, formed, and air-fried quickly, self-rising dough is your busy morning shortcut. Self-rising flour is already mixed with baking powder and salt. When the yogurt is mixed in, the moisture creates the soft, chewy texture without needing to add yeast. It’s a game-changer!

Greek Yogurt

We love using Greek yogurt with berries whenever we can. This creamy addition helps the bagels rise while cooking in the air fryer with a subtle tang for an extra layer of flavor. Greek yogurt is high in protein, so you’re sure to feel full until lunch.

How to Make Blueberry Bagels in the Air Fryer

Now that we’ve got the three main ingredients, it’s time to make our bagels. We love making doughy recipes with our kids, so invite your kids into the kitchen with you, and the prep time might be even quicker.

Step 1: Mix and knead the dough.

Let’s start by preheating the air fryer to 350℉. In a large bowl, mix the self-rising flour and Greek yogurt with a spatula.

Flour your work surface and your hands with any kind of flour to prevent sticking. Transfer the dough to the work surface and knead with your hands until smooth, with an elastic consistency. It shouldn’t be dry or sticky.

Then add fresh blueberries and gently knead just until they are swirled into the dough. Overmixing can cause the berries to bleed, so be sure to add these after the dough is properly mixed.

Step 2: Form the bagels.

Divide the dough into 8 equal sections. Use your hands to gently press, stretch, and roll each section into a log, about ¾ inch thick. Form the log into a circle and press the ends together with your fingers.

Step 3: Air fry your blueberry bagels.

For extra golden-brown edges, whisk one egg with two tablespoons of water to make an egg wash, then brush the bagels with the egg wash. Place the bagels on an oiled or parchment paper-lined air fryer basket for easy cleanup. Air fry for 5 minutes, then flip and air fry for 5 more minutes.

For the best chewy texture, let them cool for a few minutes, spread with cream cheese, and serve!
